Fuel Gauge

Analysis

The fuel gauge is a variable resistor mounted inside the fuel tank. The connection is on page 97-73, via a 4 pin connector on wires brn/wht, purple. The other two wires are for an in-tank fuel pump. When the tank is empty, is reads 54.8 ohms, when full 291 ohms.

Action

This has been tested by applying power to the vehicle, then manually moving the float on the fuel gauge sender. This can be simulated by the EV ECU, or a a discrete circuit which will measure battery state of charge and translate it to the appropriate resistance range.
