Testing

October 2004

Seat Belt Warning

The seat belt warning system does not appear to work when power is applied to the vehicle.

Load Reduction Relay

The load reduction relay turns off power to most parts in the car while it is starting. This relay appears to work fine, cutting power when the key position is in start, then returning power when the key position is in run.

Running Indication

The instrumentation computer has a "driving indication" signal from the ECU. This may be used to:

  • activate seatbelt warning light
  • lock doors after 30 seconds of driving

Clutch Pedal Switch

The clutch pedal switch disables power to the start solenoid. If we are to use the same wiring and circuit to activate the contactors, the switch must be bypassed.

Car Alarm System

The Alarm system appears to work without any modification. Further road testing is required, as these systems are unusually (annoyingly?) complex.
