Analysis

The backup light is simply a switch (F4 on page 97-54) via a 2 pin connector (brown/black, brown/black) to fuse S7.

Action

This has been tested by applying power to the vehicle, and then simply connecting the two leads on the reverse light switch (at the transmission) causes the reverse lights to actuate. Therefore, the reverse lights can be actuated by one of two ways:

  1. If the transmission will be used for reversing, the reverse connector can simply be hooked up as per normal.
  2. If the controller/inverter will be used for reversing, the reverse switch can be made a double pole, with one pole activating the lights.
